Wright County Parks Master Plan

HKGi led the development of a Park and Recreation System Master Plan that is serving as a guide for short- and long-term development of the system and is aiding Wright County staff and leadership in identifying and prioritizing physical improvement and maintenance needs. The plan’s recommendations are built on four Legacy Pillars that help define the vision and objectives for the county’s future system: Take Care of What We Have; Acquire Land and Create Opportunities; Connect People to the Outdoors; and Coordinate Among Partners.

The planning process included an assessment of existing facilities, analysis of trends in recreation, comparison against peers and national standards, future growth patterns, gaps in facilities and programming, and an evaluation of public input. The plan identifies priorities for where and when investments will be made based on desires expressed by the public, anticipated safety and functionality needs, and potential future opportunities. The plan also makes recommendations for interdepartmental cooperation and planning for acquisition and construction of parkland and trails throughout the county.
