This multi-year park renovation has transformed one of the City’s well-loved parks into a premier athletics destination, boasting four fully synthetic turf diamonds designed for both youth and adult baseball and softball. Spectator experience is enhanced by covered stadium seating and a wide variety of other viewing experiences, fully lit fields and walking loops, modern concession and restroom facilities, trails, signage, and ample parking. Residents and visitors can also enjoy the newly installed playground, pickleball courts, sledding hill, pleasure skating loop, enhanced hockey rink, biking and walking trails, and native Minnesota prairie.
In order to screen surrounding homes from activity on the ballfields, HKGi’s landscape architects specified the construction of berms using earth moved to create ballfields. The berms provide some separation between the park’s athletic fields and the neighborhood while also providing a site for prairie plantings in summer and a sledding hill in winter. HKGi’s design also specified extensive preservation and relocation of mature trees to enhance screening for surrounding neighborhood residences.
Design and construction of a new tournament-quality ballfield complex featuring covered seating areas, synthetic turf, and a premier diamond.
HKGi conducted a preliminary feasibility study of the park to identify a reconfiguration of the park’s previous field layout, which was often unusable due due to poor drainage.
