HKGi’s Park System Master Plan for the City of Eagan will guide the community through the next phase in its evolution. Many of the system’s features and facilities will reach the end of their lifespan in the period covered by this plan, so several of initiatives focus on maintenance, replacement, and asset management. A full inventory and assessment of the system’s current conditions was conducted to inform a systematic replacement plan for aging facilities.
While replacement and maintenance planning were critical focuses, the Plan also identifies strategies for serving an aging population while also continuing to serve families with children. Improved connectivity throughout the system will offer greater accessibility for all ages, and the Plan encourages the city to build on its successful program offerings to ensure seniors have ample opportunities to participate in arts and recreation programming.
The playground replacement initiative will focus on new equipment that expands the types and variety of play themes and activities available within the system, while several initiatives address the need for upgraded and expanded athletic facilities.
