Springbrook Nature Center is a 127-acre park in Fridley, MN that provides visitors with environmental education programs and facilities and access to diverse natural open space. In 2009 HKGi began working with the City and the Springbrook Foundation to plan enhancements to the center, improve ecological and economic sustainability, and preserve the center's natural habitat.

HKGi and Partners and Sirny Architects collaborated with community stakeholders to create a master plan that identified strategies and action steps to achieve the City's and the Foundation's objectives, and in 2016 construction on a new visitor center and renovated landscape was completed.

Other highlights of the master plan, to be constructed in later phases, include a nature play area, amphitheater, trail connections, picnic facilities, formal and informal gathering areas and outdoor classrooms, and expanded parking.

HKGi's leadership on the project included working closely with the client's Design Committee, developing a LEED™ project checklist, providing detailed cost estimates, developing phasing and implementation strategies, and producing visual communication tools to assist in fund raising campaigns.
