Woodbury, MN
HKGi developed the Urban Village Master Plan to outline a vision for a vibrant, walkable 240-acre mixed use district that would become "the heart of southern Woodbury." HKGi's planning team addressed land use and also created a development framework for storm water management, parks and open space, connectivity, and a set of urban design guidelines to shape the character of development in the area.
The master plan provided the foundation for development that has provided the community with nearly 1300 new housing units, from apartments and townhomes to single family houses and senior living options. Development has also included more than 190,000 square feet of commercial development including medical, office, retail, and the city's first brewery.
HKGi also worked closely with project engineers to better understand a range of stormwater treatment options. The stormwater approach in the Urban Village has provided a model for new development elsewhere in Woodbury.
