2015 PLANNING IN CONTEXT AWARD

In 2014 the Fargo-Moorhead Council of Governments and the City of Moorhead hired HKGi to prepare a master plan for the public land along 14 miles of Red River Corridor that had been acquired for flood mitigation. The new public land along the river was a unique opportunity for the City to not only achieve its flood mitigation goals but reconnect to the river corridor and transform it to a visible and publicly accessible source of pride, beauty, culture, and recreation. The Master Plan presents a long term vision for the corridor side by side with implementation actions that can be undertaken in the near term, within current budgets, land ownership, and flood protection infrastructure.
