HKGi is a long-standing community planning, landscape architecture, and urban design firm based in Minneapolis. We primarily work with public sector clients at a variety of scales, providing planning and design services for communities, urban districts, streetscapes, parks, trails, and neighborhood projects. HKGi is looking to expand its team. The firm's small size and sole focus on planning, landscape architecture and urban design allows staff to have access to a broad range of work, exposure to all aspects of projects, significant task responsibilities, and to contribute to the successful completion of award winning, leading edge projects. The Position: HKGi is seeking an energetic, detailed-oriented planner with 3 to 5 years of experience. Candidates should possess strong written, graphic and verbal communication skills including experience preparing technical and general planning related reports. Applicants should have working knowledge of software programs including ArcGIS and Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced knowledge in GIS, spreadsheets, Adobe Creative Suite, as well as experience working with community engagement and public process is desired.
The candidate’s initial focus will be on supporting communities with their planning needs. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects including stakeholder engagement, comprehensive planning, zoning ordinances, redevelopment planning/studies, and grant writing.
Qualifications: Required: four-year degree or master’s degree in community planning or related field, as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Desired: additional qualifications include AICP certification and direct experience preparing land use application staff reports for planning agencies and facilitating community involvement.
