Springbrook Nature Center (SNC) is a 127-acre park in Fridley, MN. Since its establishment as a City park in 1974, SNC has been providing a unique function of environmental education and access to diverse natural open space within a fast growing region. As part of addresing increased park usage, the City of Fridley and the SNC’s Foundation hired Hoisington Koegler Group and Partners and Sirny Architects to update the SPRING (Sanctuary Protection and Renewal Into the Next Generation) Project designed to enhance the nature center as a learning center destination for the community, and to preserve the site’s natural habitats. The project focuses on upgrading and expanding environmental education and exhibit space and demonstrating sustainable, high performance building and site design techniques. It will also provide expanded community and memorial areas, as well as outdoor classrooms, walkways, and expanded parking.
