The River's Edge Commons Park is located in the City of Elk River, Minnesota, adjacent to the Mississippi River. The project is an outgrowth from the Elk River Downtown Revitalization Project. The City recognized the need to better assure the long-term viability of downtown by making a stronger connection to the rest of the community and by utilizing the riverfront location. The River's Edge Commons Park is critical to that plan.
Hoisington Koegler Group was commissioned by the City to develop park concepts and complete construction of the park by the summer of 2007. The project consists of three levels that terrace down toward the banks of the Mississippi, including an upper square with shade trees, water feature and a curved overlook promenade with pergola, grand staircase and a terraced amphitheater with performance area and gazebo overlook.
