| Faribault Energy Park Grand Opening
The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) hosted the Grand Opening of Faribault Energy Park in the City of Faribault, Minnesota on October 6th, 2007. Completion of the expanded power plant represents several years of planning, design and construction of Minnesota’s newest clean energy production facility. The Faribault Energy Park facility now produces enough clean energy to power 250,000 homes. Additionally, the facility includes a 30-acre wetland park open to the public year round. The park provides important water supply for energy production while offering the community an interpretive trail system, wetlands and open spaces for hiking and bird-watching.
Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. led a multi-disciplinary team of consultants on the master planning and design of the powerplant expansion and wetland park. The project has been well received by the community and represents a model for the future of clean energy power plants in the region.
