The Dayton 2030 Park, Trail & Open Space (PTOS) Plan was approved by the Dayton City Council on January 23, 2007

Unlike typical community park & trail plans, Dayton’s 2030 PTOS Plan integrates priority high quality natural resource and open space areas into a community-wide system of parks, trails and open spaces. Because significant growth is projected for Dayton over the next 25 years, the 2030 PTOS Plan provides a critical guide for the City to integrate future land development with its desired community-wide park, trail and open space system. The PTOS Plan is intended to serve as the required update to the City’s current Parks and Open Space Plan, which is part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. All cities within the Twin Cities metropolitan area are required by State law to review and update their entire comprehensive plans by September 2008. The City decided to update its PTOS Plan prior to updating the other chapters of its Comprehensive Plan so that the PTOS Plan can serve as a foundation and framework to guide the updating of the other Comprehensive Plan elements in 2007 and 2008.
