Beginning as a farming community in the mid-1800s, Inver Grove Heights gained popularity as a suburb following WWII, and today is a growing metropolitan city of over 30,000 residents. Building of its work on the 2000 Comprehensive Plan, HKGi was hired by the City in 2007 to complete the Metropolitan Council’s requirement for an updated 2030 Comprehensive Plan. HKGi implemented a variety of public involvement strategies including open houses, workshops, listening sessions and on-line surveys. The planning process utilized HKGi’s unique Land Use Management Tool designed to allocate population, household and employment forecasts at a district level (traffic analysis zones, sewer districts, park service areas, watershed districts and others). This tool strengthens Inver Grove Heights ability to plan for community infrastructure investments and manage financial resources consistent with local and regional growth demand.
