The City of Woodbury, MN hired HKGi to prepare a park, trail and open space plan for this growing city of 55,000 people. The 2030 Parks, Trail and Open Space System Plan is the action plan for maintaining, building and improving the Woodbury parks and recreation system.
The plan is focused on natural resource preservation to create a pattern of larger community parks and smaller informal neighborhood parks connected with natural greenway open space corridors such as woodlots, wetlands, shoreland, drainageways, stormwater ponding areas and recreational trail corridors. A city-wide trail system connects parks and recreational trail corridors with sidewalks and on-road bikeways to link residential areas to recreation, shopping and working destinations and serves to enhance and encourage biking and walking city-wide.
