The Grand Rounds Missing Link Parkway is a three mile long gap in the existing 50 mile Grand Rounds Scenic Byway loop around the City of Minneapolis, MN. Hoisington Koegler Group Inc. led the design of the new parkway as part of an interdisciplinary team with HNTB and Hess-Roise.
The parkway planning and design process relied on extensive community and stakeholder input to select the preferred alignment through the developed urban area. Several potential parkway routes were identified through southeast and northeast Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota campus. Detailed route evaluations were compared to project design criteria to help guide decision-making. Technical and citizen advisory committees reviewed the routes and input was gathered at several community meetings before a preferred parkway route was selected. A project web site kept stakeholders informed of the options and engaged in the process.
