HKGi recently completed work on establishing a Comprehensive Park, Trail and Open Space Master Plan for Hassan Township. The Township, which
lies on the extreme northwestern edge of Hennepin County, has decided to be proactive in its park planning in anticipation of a future merger
with the City of Rogers and the extension of sewer and water service to the Township. The community is experiencing substantial growth and
development pressures will continue to increase. Before that growth occurs, township residents would like to establish a framework of parks,
trails and open spaces around which to develop rather than try to squeeze park facilities into leftover spaces.

By establishing this framework now, residents also hope to preserve some of the community's rural character.
Residents expressed a need and desire for more trail facilities and connections between community focal points such as schools, lakes, the Crow
River and other parks. Using the public input received during the initial phases of the public participation process, HKGi's planners developed two plan
concepts, one organized around a series of greenways and a second which emphasizes neighborhood parks. The final plan melded the concepts into an
approach that connected new parks to a greenway system based on ecological value.
